In Honor of International Overdose Awareness Day: How the Anti-Violence Movement Can Save More Lives

Brief Overview

With lives lost to overdose continuing to rise each year, we’ve lost too many people to overdoses that could have been prevented with the right information, resources, and support. Survivors of domestic and sexual violence are often at higher risk for experiencing an accidental overdose for many reasons including substance use coercion tactics, trauma, and the criminalization of survival, as well as being turned away from sources of safety because of stigma related to substance use and victimization.
