This guide is for people who have experienced domestic violence and are considering therapy. It may be used to explore whether a therapist is a good fit for you, to feel empowered to discontinue services that aren’t helpful, or to continue a relationship with a therapist that feels affirming. Advocates can also share this tool with survivors who are exploring whether therapy might be helpful or survivors who have decided to work with a therapist and would like some support with preparing for and advocating for themselves in therapy.
